Gifts in Wills
After caring for the people you love, a gift in your Will can help Terra Nova reconnect people with Earth, grow the next generation of changemakers and turn regenerative ideas into practical, lasting change.
Why Gifts in Wills matter
After caring for family and friends, many people choose to leave a gift in their Will to support the values that matter most to them.
Every gift, regardless of size, can help create a healthier, more resilient future for people and planet.
A living legacy
A gift in a Will is one way to carry a deep connection with Earth forward, creating possibility for people and places we may never know ourselves.
“Like planting a tree whose shade you may never sit beneath, a gift in your Will can help create lasting positive change for generations to come.”
The difference a future gift can make
A gift in your Will can give Terra Nova the flexibility to respond to future needs while advancing the three connected areas at the heart of its work.

Gift options
There are several ways to include a charitable gift in a Will. The right option depends on your wishes, your estate and the people you want to provide for. A solicitor or qualified Will-writing service can help you choose wording that is appropriate for you.
You can leave a percentage of your estate. The value of your gift will adjust as the value of your estate changes.
You can leave a nominated sum of money.
You may be able to leave a particular asset, such as shares or property.
Making or updating your Will
Making or updating a Will is an important personal decision. It helps protect the people you care about and ensures your wishes are understood. Some people prefer to work with a solicitor, particularly where family arrangements, trusts, businesses, overseas assets or other circumstances are complex. Others may prefer the convenience of an online Will-writing platform for a straightforward Will. Both approaches can be valid.
A solicitor can provide advice tailored to your circumstances, explain the effect of different gift types and make sure your Will works with the rest of your estate planning.
Terra Nova currently offers access to a free online Will through EveryWill for people whose needs are straightforward. The service guides you through the process step by step, and there is no obligation to include a gift to Terra Nova.
Independent advice
Terra Nova Foundation does not provide legal advice. We encourage you to seek independent advice and to review your Will whenever your life, family or financial circumstances change.
Suggested wording
We recommend discussing your wishes with your solicitor.

An online Will can be a simple, convenient and affordable option for many people. If your circumstances are more complex, such as involving trusts, business interests or blended families, you may wish to seek legal advice from a solicitor.
Before writing your Will, it can help to think about who you would like to provide for, who you would like to appoint as executor, any guardians for children and pets, and whether you would like to leave a gift to a cause important to you.
Many supporters choose to leave a gift in their Will because they want to create positive change that continues beyond their lifetime. After caring for family and friends, they choose to support environmental regeneration, community resilience and future generations through initiatives that help create a healthier and more sustainable world.
